Sajda E Tilawat

What is Sajda-e-Tilawat? Sajda-e-Tilawat is the Sajda that one has to act as a required duty when one recites, reads, or hears, in the prayer or outside in some specific Aayats/Verses including those words.

Our Holy Prophet, Sall-Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam has witnessed, "One a person prostrates/sujood himself after reading a verse requiring the performance of sajdah, the shaitan starts crying and wailing in a corner, saying; Alas! The children of Adam were ordered to perform Sajda and they brought it out, and become entitled to enter Heaven, but I declined to do so and was sentenced to Hell."

Four Pre-Requirements of Sajda-e-Tilawat:
  1. The person's clothes, purity of body, and place where doing Sajda
  2. Covering Head
  3. Turning your face toward a Qiblah (direction)
  4. The intention of performing sajdah

How to Perform The Sajda Tilawat

  • Firstly, Wudhu is a condition
  • Face the Qiblah & without raising the hands, recite Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar)
  • Going down in the Sajda Position
  • And Say Subhaana Rabbi al-Alaa at least 3 times or 5 to 7 times in Sajda
  • Rise up with Allahu-Akbar after Sujood
  • The Sajdah Tilaawat is now complete & there is no need for Salaam
When you have read a verse requiring Sajda-e-Tilawat, you should do prostration for sajdah by saying Allahu-Akbar & rise back from Sajda with Allahu-Akbar which can be sitting, though it is favored to prostrate oneself from the standing place.
